Apprenticeships

What training is involved in an Australian Apprenticeship?

All Australian Apprenticeships combine training with practical hands-on experience while you work.  Training can be done on-the-job, off-the-job or a combination of both and is dependant on the type of Australian Apprenticeship you undertake, the training requirements of the occupation and the circumstances of your employer.  A training programme could involve three days on-the-job training and two days at a registered training organisation (RTO) during a normal week.  Another possibility is that you could study your off-the-job training component in  'blocks' with an RTO.  This means you would attend weekly blocks of school periodically during the year.

Some Australian Apprenticeships involve all the training to be completed on-the-job.  Your employer would provide you with 'hands on' work experience along with a structured training programme.
