Traineeships for two local women have helped further their skills. Samantha Manning and Debra Sedley recently completed their traineeships in cleaning, and are now the proud holders of Certificate III in Asset Maintenance.

Employees of Trawool Valley Resort, both are among those taking advantage of local traineeships, such as those offered through AusNAC CVGT.

The employment agency's Rick Hagar monitored the women throughout the process.

"It is fantastic to get- positive feedback from both employers and trainees about the training," he said.

"Especially when the trainees have been existing workers, who have worked in the industry previously but who have acknowledged the benefits of completing the training.

"This training, which leads to existing staff getting recognised qualifications within their industry, is available to all employers in any industry.

"The Federal Government provides financial assistance to those employers who register through the

Australian Apprenticeship Program; this makes the training package very attractive and affordable."

Debra has been working in the cleaning industry for more than five years.

"The traineeship was good," she said.

. "It initially appeared to be pretty basic, but I learned new things that I didn't expect to learn, particularly about occupational health and safety,

and how to operate the laundry side of the business.

"It was an eye-opener."

Samantha has two years' experience as a cleaner, and she echoed Debbie's sentiments.

"We look forward, to getting up and going to work; I'm really pleased I've done the traineeship," she said.

Trawool Valley Resort's Cheryl Erickson also had praise for the program.,

"We have a terrific housekeeping team, and are using traineeships. to skill them up and keep them as part of our staff for the long-term."

Trawool is now looking to sign up another staff member onto a trainee-ship through AusNAC CVGT.
